The viral picture shown as dead bodies of Kashmiri youth is actually a 10 years old image. No such incident has recently happened in Kulgam.
A picture is going viral on Facebook with a claim that some Kashmiri youth were martyred in Kulgam recently. A Facebook page Xnews.Sialkot shared the picture with a caption "The bodies of Kashmiri youth who were martyred in Kulgam yesterday. Share the sympathy for the Kashmiri people O God, help the Muslims of Kashmir".
The post has received more than 200 likes and 6,000 shares at the time of writing this article.
When we did a google reverse image search, we found that a Twitter user Meer Jalal Khan had shared the same picture on 23rd November 2018 with the same claim.
We also found a report by Pakistan Express-News dated 16th December 2018 in which the same picture has been used. This report states that according to the Kashmir Media Service, thousands of people in Pulwama district of occupied Kashmir left their houses and attended the funeral of 11 youths who were shot dead by the Indian army. Thousands of people from the villages of the surrounding villages came to see the last glimpse and a glimpse of the martyrs despite curfew and other restrictions. (rough translation from Urdu)
We found that the photo is at least 10-years-old. WikiIslam, an online resource on Islam has dated this picture as 24th July 2009.
We couldn't find the exact story behind the picture but it is clear that it is at least 10 years old. Moreover, we couldn't find any media report to support the claim that youths have been killed by the Army in the last few days.
Conclusion: the viral picture shown as bodies of Kashmiri youth who were martyred in Kulgam recently is actually a 10 years old image. No such incident has recently happened in Kulgam.
